Do you have life jackets?

Yes. Both boats are equipped with adequate supply of type I life jackets as required by our licensing authority.

What is included with my fishing charter?
Full or half day fishing charters include all bait, tackle and ice. The captain and crew will provide everything needed to catch fish.

How many people can go on the fishing charter?
Our 46ft Hatteras can accommodate up to 25 passengers plus captain and mate however we fish a maximum of 6 lines at one time. The 28ft Bertram can accommodate 8 passengers plus captain and crew and we fish a maximum of 5 lines off this boat.

What time does the boat leave?
Normally we would leave at 7:45am unless the client request otherwise or in the case of an offshore charter we would leave at 7am. We can make special arrangements in advance to accommodate your schedule. Please check with the captain 48 hours prior to the day of your charter.

What do I need to bring for the charter?
All you need to supply is your own food and beverages, sunscreen and sunglasses and sea sick medication if you feel you may need it. We have plenty of cold storage and ice chests to store your food and drinks.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?
Yes. We have a comfortable and clean bathroom on the boat.

Can I keep the fish I catch?
We release all blue marlin and other billfish species, you make the final decision to kill or release any fish.

Can I take my fish home with me?
Yes. We can make arrangements for you to have your fish cleaned and stored for the balance of your trip and then shipped to your final destination, or packaged for you to take home on your return flight. We can also arrange for your fish to be processed if you would like to have it prepared at your home or condominium or by a local restaurant.

What if I want to have my fish mounted?
Most saltwater species of fish, including blue marlin, are not mounted using the skin of the fish. The mounts are made of a fiberglass replica mold and the size is determined by measurements taken from the fish. Your fish may be mounted by either taking measurements of the fish at the time of the catch, and then releasing your fish, or by taking the measurements on the dock. We use a world famious taxidermist who can create your mount. Be sure and let the captain know of your intentions in advance of catching your fish so he can take the appropriate actions in releasing any blue marlin or other billfish.

What about tipping?
We are in the service business and our goal is to exceed our clients' expectations. If you feel your captain and crew has done a good job for you on your fishing charter, tipping is always appreciated. We recommend 10-15% of the charter cost.

What size boat do we need? 

One of the most important things needed is enough shaded seating area for everyone. Though you probably plan on getting in on some sunshine, you'll want to be able to hide from it too. Our Hatteras yacht offer air conditioned cabins. While this can be very nice, shaded areas with open air ventilation are sufficient for most. Both boats also have a flying bridge (upper deck) where there's even more shaded seating. Another thing to consider is that boat size and comfort (or stability) aren't necessarily the same thing. Boat balance and hull design plays a big role. Both the Bertram and the Hatteras handle the choppy seas very well.

How long of a charter should I book?  Booking a 1/2 day charter (4 hours) is giving fishing just 1/2 a chance. That's OK if you're just testing the waters but if you're serious about catching fish, a full day (8 hours) is the way to go. 

Do I need a fishing license?

No. the Bahamas has very little in the way of fishing regulations. Only some fishing gear restrictions and size limits for a few of the shoreline reef fish. A license is required to sell fish.
